Dining out: $1 cinnamon rolls Friday at new Cinnaholic in Schaumburg

$1 cinnamon rolls redux

Cinnaholic is following up its opening last Friday in Naperville by debuting its new Schaumburg location on Friday, Jan. 24. And the $1 cinnamon roll deal applies: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on opening day, Cinnaholic will be offering its vegan cinnamon rolls for $1. Diners can create their own custom roll from more than 20 frostings and toppings or order one off the menu such as Cookie Monster, Blueberry Pie, Strawberries and Cream or Old Skool Roll. Coffee, tea and espresso drinks as well as bite-sized Baby Buns, cookies, brownies and edible cookie dough also grace the menu.

Restaurant Weeks

Sure, it's cold out, but local restaurant weeks are offering hot deals to entice diners to get out and try something new. Geneva Restaurant Week continues through Sunday, Jan. 26, while the Naperville and Chicago Restaurant Weeks start Friday, Jan. 24, and run through Sunday, Feb. 9. Here are some details:

Bourbon dinners

Calling all bourbon lovers: Wildfire will be hosting four-course Beam Suntory Bourbon Dinners at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in Lincolnshire and 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in Oak Brook. The $100 dinner begins with passed appetizers of ahi tuna poke crispy wontons and grilled steak bruschetta paired with Basil Hayden's Bourbon Blast Cocktail. The seated dinner, which starts at 7 p.m., features seared Atlantic salmon with a wild mushroom risotto in a Maker's Mark orange butter sauce paired with Maker's Mark. Next up is the peppercorn filet of rib-eye with root vegetable mashed potato topped with a Knob Creek rye peppercorn sauce and paired with Knob Creek Rye. Finish with a sweet treat of maple bourbon cheesecake and Knob Creek. Reservations are required.

After Dark

Looking for a new party on Friday nights? Indulge in a variety of teas, including Paris Flavored Black Teas with currant, caramel and citrus, or pomegranate oolong with ti quan yin. Nibble on tea sandwiches such as organic egg salad on pumpernickel or watermelon radish with niçoise olive spread. And nosh on sweets including funfetti macarons and sticky toffee date cakes. It's $39.95 for adults and $19.95 for kids 12 and younger. Reservations are required.

Tequila time

If you have a taste for tequila, check out Quiubo's five-course tequila dinner Thursday, Jan. 30, featuring Tequila G4 from Jalisco, Mexico. There will be experts on hand to guide diners on savoring the spirit. The night starts with a complimentary welcome cocktail at 6:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7. The pairing menu features callo de hacha (scallop, fresno-aguachile, G4-cucumber grilled pickle, avocado and cilantro flowers) paired with G4 Blanco; flautita (crispy rolled tortilla, pork carnitas, bee pollen, crema fresca and white beans) paired with G4 Reposado; taco de camarón (shrimp, squid ink tempura, ancho pepper slaw and charred pineapple) with G4 Single Barrel Reposado; and taco de carne (beef cheek, jalapeño-lime, radish and chapulin powder) with G4 Añejo. And for dessert, finish with helado (G4-tres leches cake ice cream, strawberry preserve and almond streusel) paired with G4 Extra Añejo. Vegetarian substitutions will be available with advance notice. The dinner is $79; reservations are required.

Jumping on the plant-based train, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina recently added Beyond Beef as an ordering option. Available now through March 8, guests can substitute the plant-based protein in the Beyond Meat Taco, which is topped with shredded cheese, lettuce and housemade pico de gallo. For $2 more, Beyond Beef also can be added to the enchiladas or Stacked Nachos.
