Mauer's Ranch-Style Salad Dressing

For the seasoning mix:

1 tablespoon dried chives

2 teaspoons dried parsley

2 teaspoons dried dill

2 tablespoons onion powder

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons sea salt

½ teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper

½ teaspoon ground mustard

For the dressing:

1 cup chilled organic low-fat buttermilk

1 cup chilled avocado oil mayonnaise

Make the seasoning mix: In a medium mixing bowl whisk all the seasoning mix ingredients together until combined. Transfer to a glass bottle and, when tightly covered, shake well to combine. Set aside.

Make the dressing: Add the buttermilk to a medium mixing bowl. Shake the seasoning bottle and then measure 2 tablespoons seasoning mix into the buttermilk and whisk thoroughly until combined. Add mayonnaise to the bowl and whisk until smooth and well combined. Transfer to a clean glass bottle and refrigerate. Makes 1+ pint. Should keep, refrigerated, for up to 2 weeks.

Nutrition values per 2 tablespoons: 111 calories(98.7 percent from fat), 12.1 g fat (1.6 g saturated fat), 1.4 g carbohydrates, 0.9 g sugars, 0 g fiber, 0.6 g protein, 1 mg cholesterol, 238 mg sodium.

SaltSense: Omitting the added salt reduces the sodium per serving to 141 milligrams.

Note: The seasoning mix will also make a terrific dip by substituting sour cream for the mayonnaise.

It is important to use all dry herbs and spices in the seasoning mix.
