Wrestling: Prospect takes down all comers at Fremd triple-dual
Jan 8, 2022 7:00 PM - With three of the four teams ranked in the top 18 in the state, the Fremd triple-dual meet was a showcase of Daily Herald area wrestlers Saturday in Palatine. No. 15-ranked Prospect (18-7) came away as the big winner of the quad meet as the Knights went 3-0 by defeating No. 18 Libertyville 41-27, the No. 10-ranked host Vikings 41-29, and Wheaton North 60-6 to close out the day. -

To everyone, Wudtke was kind, selfless, unique
Jan 6, 2022 7:41 PM - During coaching great Frank Mattucci's run at Stevenson, the Patriots' girls basketball teams were synonymous with two things. Winning and Willis Wudtke. The wiry and always affable Wudtke, who died just before Christmas at the age of 67, was the longtime official scorer for the Patriots' girls program, later moving on to Grayslake Central when former Stevenson assistant coach Steve Ikenn took over the Rams -- his omnipresence greatly felt in both programs for the last three-plus decades. -

Youngsters come through in Stevenson's Komaromy title-game win over BarringtonJan 12, 2022 12:11 PM - In one of the all-time great finishes of the 38-year-old Dundee-Crown Komaromy Classic, it was two of the youngest players on the floor who teamed up to bring Stevenson's girls basketball team its first title in Carpentersville since the Patriots' glory teams of the 1990s. With the clock winding down inside 10 seconds, sophomore guard Kendell Williams found freshman guard Nisha Musunuri in the corner. Musunuri dribbled quickly to the middle of the lane and tossed up a 5-footer with 4.9 seconds left which proved to be the winning basket in the Patriots' thrilling 53-51 triumph over Barrington (12-5).

Stevenson tops Lake Forest, will play for Komaromy titleDec 29, 2021 8:36 PM - Getting back to the championship game of the Dundee-Crown Komaromy Classic has been one of one of the goals for Stevenson's girls basketball team. The Patriots got their scoring together with a complete team effort late in the third quarter and rolled past Lake Forest 50-35 in the semifinals in Carpentersville on Wednesday. The Patriots (15-1) will play Barrington (11-4) in the championship game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Klatt, Stevenson dump St. Charles North to reach Komaromy semis
Dec 28, 2021 7:50 PM - Emory Klatt may be "just" a sophomore, but she played like a veteran for Stevenson's girls basketball team on Tuesday. Klatt scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the Patriots past St. Charles North, 55-39, in the quarterfinals of the Komaromy Classic at Dundee-Crown.
