"America has shaped and transformed the sound within our sanctuaries over the past 150. 'Generations of Sanctuary Sound' will take you on an auditory tour and journey through the ages, leaving you appreciating how we arrived at this moment in time," explains Cantor Kahan. "Through the artistry of more than 50 singers and musicians, 'Generations of Sanctuary Sound' will honor 150 years of Temple Beth-El and of American Reform Jewry."

Few congregations have the honor of witnessing Chicago, and American history over such a streak of time.

"To be the inheritors of such a rich history -- one that navigated the Post-Civil War Era, both World Wars, the emergence of Jewry from the Holocaust, the creation of the state of Israel, through to our modern day -- our temple has prayed many a prayer, and sung many a melody to deliver those prayers," Rabbi Sidney Helbraun of Temple Beth-El, points out. "This evening fills us with so much pride about this beautiful community, and our good fortune, and we are delighted to share this celebration with our community."
