Boating safety course starts Oct. 7 at Libertyville High School

America's Boating Course is a boat safety course designed for boaters using all types of watercraft. It is a NASBLA-approved course that meets the state certification requirements.

The material covered includes boat terminology, required boat equipment, watercraft rules and regulations, boat handling, navigation rules, aids to navigation, emergency conditions, marine communications, water sport safety, trailering, PWC operation, and knot tying. It also includes a review and examination.

The six-session course is being offered by America's Boating Club of Waukegan. It will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 7 to Nov. 18, at Libertyville High School, 708 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. There will be no class Nov. 11.

The total course cost is $39, which includes the $9 registration fee. The remaining $30 is paid on the first day of class, at which time participants will receive the course materials, including a textbook.
