The heartbeat of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley is the variety of active small group ministries, including ministry, fellowship, care, and study, which offer support in numerous ways for both its congregation members and community neighbors.

The church will celebrate its existing small groups and kick off its new Discipleship Groups, called "7s," at a special luncheon at noon on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the church.

"I am really excited about '7s'," said Donna Kelly, Connections Minister. "As we launch our Discipleship Groups, it is my hope that people will take advantage of this opportunity to meet together and grow our relationships with Christ and others. My involvement over the years as part of small groups has given me time to learn a lot about myself and others in my groups. We shared, laughed and cried together."

The new Discipleship Groups will be offered in seven-week blocks, three times a year starting this fall, with the next in January and after Easter in 2022. They will include learning, fellowship, ministry, and care.

"As we enter into this fall season, I encourage participation in connecting with God's people," said the Rev. Mark Boster, senior pastor. "There are so many ways for us to remain connected here but let me first and foremost encourage faithfulness in joining us for worship."
