Glenbard parent event: Creating an Environment Where Bullying is Obsolete

The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families will present A Paradigm Shift: Helping Kids Create an Environment Where Bullying is Obsolete with school psychologist John Dominguez on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Texting and social media provide unlimited, unsupervised and peer-driven social interactions ripe for bullying and other forms of unkindness. Bullying is not a normal part of growing up; it doesn't build character; and it impacts the learning environment. Despite a great deal of attention being paid to anti-bullying efforts in the past several years, and the increased breadth of the problem, it is no wonder that schools, despite their best efforts, still face bullying concerns on a daily basis.

This program will be presented at noon Oct. 22 at the Community Consolidated School District 93 Administration Center, 230 Covington Drive in Bloomingdale.

Dominguez will present a paradigm shift that compels us to address this problem differently, through a comprehensive focus and emphasis on creating cultures in which bullying and other forms of unkind behavior cannot survive.

GPS is generously sponsored by the Cebrin Goodman Center, Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE), College of DuPage, DuPage Medical Group, Emmy Gaffey Foundation and Trust Company of Illinois.
