Harper and ECC to Host Grand Opening of Hanover Park Education and Work Center

Harper College and Elgin Community College will host a grand opening and open house for the Education and Work Center in Hanover Park on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 2-7 p.m. The center is located in the Hanover Square Shopping Center located at 6704 Barrington Road in Hanover Park.

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a recognition program; tours and refreshments will follow from 3:30-5:30 p.m.; and the celebration will conclude with a 5:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting.

ECC and Harper will offer classes, financial aid, scholarship assistance, and advice on college application and careers at the center, through a unique partnership with the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, the Village of Hanover Park, and the State of Illinois.

The center will offer English as a second language (ESL), adult basic education (math, reading, and writing), and GED in English and Spanish, with day and night classes. There will also be a workNet Center, which will provide job search and employment assistance to residents. All classes and services at the center are free.

The 10,900-square-foot center will include four classrooms, a computer lab, office space for enrolling and advising students, and a workNet satellite office.
