Wauconda outslugs Round Lake

Round Lake’s softball team got a pair of home runs, but Wauconda notched a wild victory Wednesday.

Wauconda scored 10 times in the top of the fifth inning and outslugged the host Panthers 18-8 in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Alex Kinnamon went 3-for-5 with a double, and Lauren Nee was 2-for-5 with a triple, as Wauconda improved to 12-4 and 5-0 in the division. Paige Motley also doubled for the Bulldogs, while Kayla picked up the win in relief, striking out all four batters she faced.

Round Lake’s Ashley Wegner belted a fourth-inning grand slam, after the Panthers’ Ashley Carter had hit a 2-run shot in the third. Haley Steinberg had a double.

Carmel 12, St. Viator 9: Amy Abel, Kathleen Felicelli and Mia Dicara homered for the Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic contest.

Carmel (10-4) got doubles from Amanda Elert, Sarah Koesser, Abel and Abby Andrejek.

Warren 11, Lakes 1: Jill Fox and Kelly Majewski each had 3 hits and 2 RBI for the visiting Blue Devils in the North Suburban crossover.

Jazmin Bonke and Jodie Hurd added a pair of singles each for Warren (10-3), which ran its winning streak to nine games. Jenny Carpenter allowed just 3 hits over 6 innings.

Stevenson 16, North Chicago 1: Taylor Koenigs and Dana Morgan (5 RBI) hit home runs for the Patriots in the North Suburban crossover.

Stevenson (7-6) got 2 hits apiece from Morgan, Katelyn Noronha and Maria Anagnostopoulos. Sam Feder (3 strikeouts) pitched 2 innings for the win, and Kat Trotter (7 strikeouts) tossed the final 3 for the save.

Zion-Benton 6, Lake Zurich 5: The Zee-Bees scored 6 runs in the sixth to wipe out a 5-0 deficit and win the North Suburban Lake showdown.

Rachel Dawson (2 runs) and Kaylee Grant (double, RBI, run) each had 2 hits for Lake Zurich (8-5, 3-2).

Grayslake Central 13, Hampshire 3: Brandy Heraty homered, doubled and drove in 2 runs for the Rams in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Grayslake Central received 2 hits apiece from Heraty, Jamie Brew (3 RBI, 3 runs), Shelby White (3 runs) and Caitlin Flary (2 RBI). White, Brew and winning pitcher Brittany Brown also doubled.
