Schaumburg wins as Kerr no-hits St. Viator

Senior Hannah Kerr (2-0) fired a no-hitter as Schaumburg’s softball team improved to 3-0 with a 10-0 victory in five innings at St. Viator on Tuesday in nonconference play.

Top hitters for the Saxons were Shannon Felde (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Lindsay Leiber (2-for-3), Elaine Walker (2-for-3, RBI) and Dana Giannelli (2-for-3, 2 RBI, home run).

Barrington 15, Jacobs 7: Maggie O’Hara (3-for-4, 3 doubles, 4 RBI), Katie Dehnert (3-for-5, 2 runs), Krista Moore (3-for-4, double, RBI), Tess Bolger (2-for-4, double, RBI), Raegen Fingerman (2-for-5, double, 2 runs), Morgan Olszewski (2-for-4, RBI) and Loren Krzysko (2-for-4, 3 RBI), who belted her 27th career homer and third of the season, led the Fillies’ offense.

Sophomore Keenan Dolezal (3-0) pitched 6 innings to earn the win while Cassidy Kraimer faced four batters in inning.

Butler recruit Alyssa Lach went 4-for-4 with a home run for Jacobs, which led 7-6 after four innings.

The Fillies scored 8 in the bottom of the fifth.

“They put pressure on us and we were down 7-6,” said Fillies coach Perry Peterson. “It was important to battle through it and I give a lot of credit to our girls to do that.”

Maine West 7, Glenbrook South 3; Visiting Maine West improved to 4-0 as senior Ariel Valles (2-0) earned the win with 7 strikeouts.

Top hitters for the Warriors were Hanna Udischas (2-for-4, 1 run, RBI), Renee Pond (3-for-4 2 runs, triple) and Brie Montmarquette (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBI).

Elk Grove 11, Lane Tech 8: Brianna Leach (2-for-3, 4 RBI) , 3 runs) belted her first varsity home run, a 2-run blast, as the Grenadiers improved to 4-0.

Other top hitters for the hosts were Becca Maher (3-for-4, triple, double, RBI), who missed the cycle by a homer, and Marjorie Sloan (2-fro-4, RBI).

Megan Eul (3-0) picked up the win, giving up 2 unearned runs in the final three innings in relief of Riley Romano (1-0).

Cary-Grove 7, Hersey 0: Hersey slipped to 2-1 with the loss in Cary.

Prairie Ridge 11, Palatine 1: Prairie Ridge struck out 12 Pirates and allowed only 2 hits in the nonconference game. Palatine is 1-2.

Niles West 5, Wheeling 1: Niles West scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh to top host Wheeling which was playing its first game of the season.
