Buffalo Grove, Wheeling still tied for East lead
Ian Rodriguez scored 4 goals as host Buffalo Grove jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first two quarters on its way to maintaining a share of the Mid-Suburban East boys water polo lead with an 8-4 victory over Hersey on Thursday.
The Bison (14-5, 8-1) began the night in a tie for the East lead with defending champ Wheeling, which was hosting Elk Grove. The Wildcats won that one 14-4.
The leaves BG and Wheeling (18-6, 8-1) in a tie for the division lead.
They split their earlier meetings and have scored and allowed the same number of goals. Wheeling won at home 7-6 of March 20, while Buffalo Grove edged the visiting Wildcats 10-9 on Monday.
Both teams have one game remaining in division play Tuesday, as Buffalo Grove hosts Elk Grove and Wheeling hosts Prospect.
Hoffman Estates 14, Palatine 10: San Han scored 6 goals, all in the second half, to help the host Hawks pull away from an MSL West win over the Pirates.
Adam Pasnicki scored four times for Hoffman Estates (12-7, 4-5); Palatine (5-13, 2-7) was led by 3 goals from Krystian Kalev and Omar El-Hoffi.
Conant 9, Schaumburg 5: The Cougars (13-6, 6-3) climbed into tie for second place in the MSL West with Schaumburg (12-6, 6-3) by beating the visiting Saxons.
Fremd 11, Barrington 7: The visiting Vikings (19-5, 9-0) moved within 1 game of a perfect run through the MSL West by winning at Barrington. Fremd clinched the West Division title on Tuesday.
