Dual Language open house
A Dual Language informational meeting and open house will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Gary School, 130 E. Forest Ave., in West Chicago. Parents, teachers and directors involved with the program will be on hand to answer questions. The Dual Language program integrates non-English speaking children into classrooms with their peers. The goal is academic excellence and bilingual proficiency for both groups. The program is housed at Gary School and transportation is provided from each of School District 33's elementary schools. Dist. 33 offers students entering kindergarten an opportunity to be literate in reading, writing and speaking both English and Spanish by the end of sixth grade. 'Beauty and the Beast'
Geneva High School students will perform the musical "Beauty and the Beast" in several shows between Thursday, March 19 and Saturday, March 21 at the school, 416 McKinley Ave. All seating is reserved. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students, children and senior citizens. To purchase tickets in advance, e-mail dhanson@geneva304.org (preferred) or call (630) 463-3838. The box office will open at 6:30 p.m. each evening and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Shamrock Shootout
Geneva All-Sports Boosters will host a Shamrock Shootout for boys and girls in third through eighth grades Saturday, March 21 at Geneva High School. All teams are guaranteed at least two games; players on teams of up to four players will compete against other teams in their age group. The price is $60 per team; it includes a T-shirt and a Subway turkey sandwich box lunch. Drinks and other snacks are available for purchase. Help save the horses
Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption, a volunteer horse rescue barn in Elburn, will host a fundraising bunco tournament from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 20 at the Campton Township Community Center, 5N082 Old LaFox Road.
