Nagel, Saake, Molinaro, Maguire for West Chicago District 94
Voters in West Chicago Community High School District 94 are in the enviable position of having more good candidates than seats to give them.
Still, it was not hard to pick the four that deserve our endorsement from this field of six.
Incumbent Rich Nagel has devoted many years as a school board official or committee volunteer and has earned our support in the past.
Gary Saake, who narrowly lost his first attempt to win a seat on the board in 2007, has since stepped in as treasurer for the district. The position can be filled by a board member or by a member of the community. The job comes with a stipend, but that is not paid if a board member is doing the job, per state law. Saake attends every board and finance committee meeting and knows the issues.
Both Tony Molinaro, a former Benjamin Elementary District 25 board member, and West Chicago Elementary District 33 board member Katrine Maguire bring excellent understanding of the issues and the job. We particularly like Maguire's ability to balance priorities, being realistic about finances, spending and quality education.
Nagel, Saake, Molinaro and Maguire are endorsed.
Dale Crawford also brings excellent experience as a longtime committee volunteer,
Dirk Gunderson also is running.
