Red Julep
1 half black plum sliced
6-8 mint leaves
3 tarragon leaves
1 part simple syrup
1½
ounces bourbon, such as Red Stag by Jim Beam
In a julep cup or double old fashioned glass, muddle the plum, mint and tarragon with the simple syrup. Fill glass 3/4 with crushed ice, add bourbon and stir to combine and distribute fruit and mint throughout glass. Top up with crushed ice and garnish with a powdered sugar dusted mint sprig and a slice of plum and zest a lemon so the thin strips of peel land on the top.
Serves one.
