Scouting St. Viator @ Notre Dame
St. Viator (4-3, 2-3) at Notre Dame (5-2, 3-2)
When 7:30 p.m. today
Last week: St. Viator d. Marian Catholic 25-0; Notre Dame d. Nazareth 37-10
Outlook Both teams should have enough playoff points to make the field at 5 wins but would prefer not to sweat it out next weekend. "You don't want to go in at 5-4," said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. "You don't want to go in like that." Workhorse RB Julian Burgos powered his way to 176 yards and 3 TDs last week but the Dons, who lost two weeks ago in double OT to Carmel, can also throw it with QB Drew Diaz and WR Tim Hirsch and LB Anthony Jahns is one of the leaders of a physical defense. "It'll be a typical Viator-Notre Dame game, physical and an all-out battle," Kirkpatrick said. Viator QB Julian Sipiora is doing better after playing through a painful hip pointer last week and the Lions are looking for another big defensive effort from NT Connor Ptacin, LB Sean Conerty and DB David Alameda. Viator is 21-13 in the series since 1970.
