Specialist to discuss how faith, psychology can help to cope with stressors May 2 at Naperville church
The news is not that we are living in unprecedented times with stress levels soaring to the sky. Rather, the good news is that we can learn to cope with the health risks of COVID-19, financial worries and continued fears that are greeting us at many levels.
Learn some coping mechanisms at the "Alive Again … Rising With Christ!" program from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 2, in the Lighthouse room in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
The Rev. Scott Mitchell, Psy. D., president and CEO of Samaracare Counseling, will be guest presenter.
The paschal mystery teaches that living, dying and rising are part of the experience of being a Christian.
During his presentation, Dr. Mitchell, a clinical psychologist and a member of the clergy, will explore how the best practices of psychology - intertwined with the paschal mystery - allows people to thrive and maintain well-being during the most difficult times of life.
Dr. Mitchell brings 30 years of experience to the topic combined with a special interest in the development of preventive factors that build resilience across the life span and the role of spirituality in this resilience. His is a holistic approach, integrating the best practices of psychology with a respect for mindfulness and spirituality.
