Scholarship offer for Bartlett seniors

Applications are currently being accepted for the Bartlett Woman's Club annual college scholarship. High school seniors, who reside in Bartlett, are invited to pick up an application from the guidance office at any U-46 high school. Seniors at other schools can call Ruth Beckner at (630) 837-8125. Applications are due by April 1.

Scholarships are made possible by proceeds from the Woman's Club annual fashion show, which will be held this year on Sunday, March. 15. Call Peggy at (630) 830-8407 for tickets.

Garden Club offers scholarships

The Garden Club of Inverness is accepting applications for scholarships. Students who live in the area served by School District 211 and Barrington High School and who major in horticulture or environmental-related studies in college are invited to apply.

Applicants can be college freshmen to seniors and/or graduate students. Scholarships of $1,000 or more are awarded each year, determined by the available funds. Applications can be obtained by visiting the guidance offices in District 211 and Barrington High School.

Free car wash in Schaumburg

Highway Commissioner Robert Fecarotta announced the return of the Clear Vision Program at the Schaumburg Township Highway Department. The free light car wash is available for Schaumburg residents from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays beginning Jan. 10 through Feb. 28, at the Township Road and Bridge Garage, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. There is no charge for the car wash but a donation of nonperishable boxed or canned goods will be appreciated.

Northwest Culture Bus rolls for winter

The winter session of the Northwest Culture Bus, sponsored by the Barrington Area Council on Aging and CJE-Senior Life, will run from Wednesday, Jan. 14, through Wednesday, March 25. The program will provide a series of cultural outings designed specifically for people experiencing early memory loss.

The winter session includes six outings on alternating Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; program fee is $450 for the full season. The fee includes professional staff trained to work with adults with memory loss, bus transportation for all outings, admission fees and restaurant lunches. Hands-on activities and trip destinations offer participants a variety of culturally enriching activities and experiences while providing caregivers with needed respite.

eBay sales to benefit senior services

The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council has launched a program with I Sold It on eBay in Palatine. Donated items may be dropped off at the store, located at 780 E. Dundee Road, and proceeds from sales are then given to the council. Donors will be issued an acknowledgment of the donation. For information, call (847) 991-1112.
