Cook County honors election judges

Cook County Clerk David Orr honored two election judges from each suburban township for their work at a recent awards ceremony. More than 11,000 election judges worked 16-hour shifts in suburban Cook County, setting up the polling place and election equipment, assisting voters as needed, and compiling votes at the end of the night. All judges attend regular trainings to learn new procedures and techniques.

Among local judges honored were: Barrington Township: Michael Pogar and Mary Beth Woynich Elk Grove Township: Ramesh Gandhi and Wayne White Hanover Township: Julie Hernandez and Joseph F. Sapone Maine Township: James G. Cushing and Felice C. Moss Palatine Township: Brian Carlson and Scott W. Forpe Schaumburg Township: Herbert Kuehl and Therese M. Marto Wheeling Township: Margaret Vannelli and Joan Brandt Among others honored were township coordinators Susan McDonald, Palatine Township, and Richard Taccini, Schaumburg Township; and early voting election judge Paul Glombowski, Wheeling Township.
