Cronin sails to another state Senate victory

Republican State Sen. Dan Cronin won another term in the state Senate, where he has stood on a platform opposing tax increases since 1993.

Unofficial results Tuesday night had Cronin, of Elmhurst, beating opponents A. Ghani, a Democrat, and John Basco, a Green Party candidate. With 221 of 223 precincts reporting, Cronin led with 63 percent, Ghani collected 30 percent and Basco trailed with 7 percent, according to unofficial results in the race for the state Senate's District 21.

District 21 includes all or portions of Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, Westmont and Wheaton.
