Weber Marking Systems, Arlington Heights, named Thomas Michalsen marketing director to oversee Weber's marketing operation in North America. Michalsen, who joined Weber in 1981, previously served as manger of media products.

Schaumburg resident Amy Kolczak was named research and code approvals manager at ITW Red Head, an Illinois Tool Works construction products company in Addison. Kolczak will assist in the establishment of an International Code Council facility at Red Head. Additionally, Dave Steiner was appointed national sales manager for ITW Red Head. Steiner, who has 17 years of experience with concrete anchoring products and tools, will manage the sales team .

Winnetka resident Samuel Schaefer was elected to serve on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter's board of trustees. Schaefer is a senior director for the greater Chicago area of Tishman Speyer.

Michael Blue, director of the city of Highland Park's community development department, was inducted by the American Institute of Certified Planners into its College of Fellows.

APAC Customer Service Inc., Deerfield, appointed Mark K. Anderson senior vice president, sales marketing.

Internal medicine specialist Dr. Peter E. Eupierre, Oak Brook, was elected chairman and board member of the Illinois State Medical Society. Eupierre served as president of the society from 2006-07 and has been a member of the board since 1997.

The Northeastern Illinois Area on Aging re-elected Susan Grossinger of Crystal Lake its first vice chairman and a three-year board member. Additionally, Dallas Larson of Woodstock was elected chairman of the agency's Advisory Council.

Nanolink Inc., Skokie, appointed Russel A. Bantham to its board of directors. Bantham worked as executive vice president and chief operations officer at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America from 1995-2005.

Jan Bauer, former director of the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, was appointed director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at College of Lake Country, Grayslake.

The American Veterinary Medical Association hired Dr. Patricia L. Wohlferth-Bethke as an assistant director in the membership and field services division. Wohlferth-Bethke previously worked for two decades at the Dundee Animal Hospital in Dundee.

Crowe Chizek and Co. appointed the following individuals in its Oak Brook office: Carla Hooker, senior staff, people services; Chris Wagner, senior staff, people services; David Prondzinski, senior manager, tax; Dean Kasal, senior staff, tax; Ina Lee, manager, assurance and financial advisory; Beatriz Rangel, staff, assurance and financial advisory; Laurel Rothmeyer, manager, risk consulting; and Jay Choi, manager, financial institutions. Additionally, Scott Grant, senior manager, people services group, and Peri Hughes, manager, firmwide group, joined the accounting and consulting firms Chicago office.

Theresa Bischoff, state regulated licensed insurance professional of Estate Allocation Network Group in Cook County, was approved for membership in the National Ethics Bureau. Bischoff founded Estate Allocation Network Group in 1999.

Michael O. Oliver was named vice president and chief human resources officer at Lake Forest-based Pactiv Corp. Oliver will replace the retiring Henry M. Wells III.

Deerfield-based Walgreens promoted Kenneth E. Amos from director to divisional vice president of loss prevention. The company also named William T. Grayson vice president of pharmacy acquisitions, a newly created position.

Ronald C. Nelson of Color-Glo Quality Leather Restoration in Hawthorn Woods was awarded the 2008 Everett Smith Award at the Color Glo International annual conference in Minneapolis.

ScotPress Printing, Downers Grove, appointed Melna Langham general manager. Langham previously served as senior creative director at Maclyn Group, a sister company to ScotPress.
