Eagles net a victory over N. Chicago
Lakes' girls volleyball team picked up its second win of the season Wednesday night, but it wasn't easy, coach Carla Thomson said.
The Eagles knocked off North Chicago 25-18, 25-15 in North Suburban Prairie Division action.
Mandy Fischer and Kelly Bol had 4 and 3 kills, respectively, for Lakes. Steffanie Fisher delivered 2 aces (8-of-8 serving), 2 kills and 3 setting assists. Kathy Szczesniak lofted 6 assists, Keshia Cunningham had 4 blocks, and Lindsay Frisby contributed 2 aces.
"North Chicago was able to keep the ball in play and force us to make the mistakes," Thompson said. "We have learned to block and pass the hits, but we did not play well when they did not make the big hits against us. We were able to serve better in this match, which kept us in the game."
