Emma Gaulke tossed a 4-hitter and Cary-Grove downed Jacobs 5-0 Wednesday to knock the Golden Eagles out of first place in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division softball race. Colette Roth was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for the Trojans (13-14, 6-5) and Katie Berg had 2 RBI. Gaulke struck out five and walked two. Marissa Lombardo suffered the loss for Jacobs (14-11, 7-4).

McHenry 3, CL South 2: McHenry (20-6, 7-3) took over sole possession of first place in the FVC Valley by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat CL South (18-7, 6-4). Sarah Boyer picked up the win for McHenry, allowing 6 hits with 10 strikeouts. Emily Mahoney (13-5) suffered the loss for the Gators. Kaitlin Hardie was 2-for-3 with a double and Liz Adams went 2-for-3 with a triple for CL South.

Prairie Ridge 5, Johnsburg 4: The Wolves (25-5, 11-0) inched closer to the FVC Fox title with this win. Anna Patras was 2-for-3 with a home run and Johanna Turner improved to 22-4 in the circle for PR.

Woodstock 5, Dundee-Crown 0: The Chargers (4-19, 0-11) managed just 1 hit in this FVC Valley loss. Emilie Kerkman was D-C's losing pitcher.
