Fancy Raspberry-filled Orange Cookies

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

3 ounces cream cheese, softened

2 teaspoons grated orange peel

1 egg

2 1/4 cups flour

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup seedless red raspberry preserves

Glaze

1/2 cup vanilla baking chips

2 teaspoons oil

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In mixing bowl beat sugar, butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add orange peel and egg; blend well. Add flour and baking powder; mix well.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. With thumb or handle of wooden spoon make indentation in center of each cookie. Fill each dent with 1/4 teaspoon preserves and bake 11-13 minutes or until cookies are firm to the touch. Cool 2 minutes on sheets; remove and cool on wax paper.

Makes six dozen.

Nutrition values per cookie: 60 calories, 3 g fat (2 g saturated), 8 g carbohydrates, 1 g fiber, 1 g protein, 10 mg cholesterol, 14 mg sodium.
