Connelly wins in state House District 48

The 48th House District will remain a Republican seat.

DuPage County Board member Michael Connelly of Lisle defeated Democrat Joseph Heneghan of Woodridge to replace retiring state Rep. Jim Meyer.

With all 90 precincts reporting, unofficial results show Connelly received 58 percent of the votes while Heneghan got 42 percent.

The 44-year-old attorney has also served as a Lisle Village Board member and has said he opposes income and sales tax increases. Connelly will serve a two-year term in a district that includes portions of Naperville, Lisle, Wheaton, Woodridge and Bolingbrook.
