BC opens conference with win
By matching scores of 25-21, 25-21, Burlington Central (9-2, 1-0) opened up Big Northern East Conference girls volleyball play Thursday with a win. Strong hitting by Stephanie Holthus (11 kills, 6 digs), Molly Turk (13 assists, 3 kills) and Taylor Scully (4 kills) led the Rocket attack.
Illiana Christian d. Westminster Christian: Despite a tremendous effort from Jessica Benson and Hannah Graves the Warriors (3-6) fell in the Private School League to llliana Christian 25-14, 25-15.
Crystal Lake South d. Marian Central: In two games the CLS Gators dominated Marian Central for a nonconference victory 25-16, 25-11. Katie Trayser led with 6 kills and 2 blocks. Erin Johnson (5 kills,6 blocks) and Lena Mack (5 kills, 1 block) contributed.
Lake Park d. Larkin: After winning the opener 25-20, Larkin (4-7, 1-3) struggled to gain control of the next to falling to Lake Park 25-16, 25-21 in Upstate Eight Conference action. Isadora Borrero (4 blocks, 2 digs, 2 aces, 7 kills), Jessica Harris (2 blocks, 9 kills), Claire Sherman (8 digs) and Liza Smithberger (13 assists) led the Larkin attack.
