South Elgin, Hampshire score soccer wins

With a hat trick from Ernesto Caballero in the first five minutes of play, South Elgin's boys soccer team dominated Minooka 9-0 for a nonconference win Saturday. Both Mike Alfini and Gustavo Salas added a pair of goals, while Bart Mazurek and Arnoldo Ramirez each rendered single knocks. Ryan Hicks (3 saves) preserved the shutout for the Storm (4-5).

Hampshire 7, Rockford Auburn 0: The Hampshire offense came to life, led by Jason Bishop who scored 2 goals and assisted one in this nonconference shutout over Auburn. Also scoring were John Cabral, Robert Murphy, Geza Kogler, Phile Bracke (Noel Sosa assist) and Sosa (Andrew Obmalay). Defending the net, Marcus Quick racked up 4 saves en route to his first shutout of the year.

Buffalo Grove 2, Dundee-Crown 1: Dundee-Crown (4-6) fell behind early and couldn't battle back, dropping this nonconference match. Luis Bahena scored the lone Charger goal unassisted, while Josh Cook collected 10 saves in goal.

Round Lake 3, Westminster Christian 0: Scott Saturik recorded 9 saves as the Warriors (3-4-1) fell in nonconference action.

Prairie Ridge wins invitational: Finishing the PR Invitational 2-0-1, host Prairie Ridge took the title with a 2-1 win over DeKalb. Alberto Ocampo and Jason Bhatta found the back of the net, both assisted by Sam Mandl. Prior to the title match, the Wolves beat Mundelein 1-0 with a goal from Kyle Pringle. A.J. Sturm tallied 4 saves on the day.

Bartlett Tournament: Elgin (2-8) closed out the Bartlett Tournament with a 1-0 loss to Bartlett followed by a 2-1 loss to Jacobs. Omar Jasso scored the only Maroon goal assisted by Jose Quevado. Osciel Ravadan defended the net racking up 21 saves on the day. After falling 4-0 to Carmel, Jacobs (4-3-3) bounced back to close action in the Bartlett Tournament with a 2-1 win over Elgin. Sam McKee and Matt Eziakowiec scored for the Golden Eagles while Danny Trevor (9 saves) tended to the net. Garret Dini scored Bartlett's goal in the win over Elgin. The Hawks finished the tournament with a 2-0 loss to Morton.

DeSmet 5, Streamwood 0: Edgar Leyva defended goal for Streamwood (8-2-2) recording 12 saves as the Sabres fell to DeSmet in the Pepsi Showdown.
