Cary-Grove pitcher Matt Nelsen just keeps winning.

The senior allowed 5 runs in 5 innings against Crystal Lake South in Monday's Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game yet improved to 9-0 this season nonetheless, thanks to the support of the Trojans' offense in a 9-6 victory in Cary. Nelsen finished last season with a record of 8-0.

Catcher Luke Mottashed went 2-for-4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI, Chris Waylock doubled and Mark Thomson went 2-for-3 with a home run for Cary-Grove (23-7-1, 10-2).

Dundee-Crown 8, McHenry 7: The Chargers rallied from a 6-0, first-inning deficit to win a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game in Carpentersville. Junior Chris Sailor earned the win in relief by holding the Warriors to 1 run on 6 hits in 51/3 innings. Willy Larsen went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Brendon Schumacher was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a run, Kirk Hanselmann went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Chris Leifel homered for Dundee-Crown (6-20, 3-9).

Jacobs 6, Woodstock 3: Scott Meyer struck out seven and walked five but didn't give up an earned run in the Golden Eagles' Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win in Woodstock. Jake Vojtsek went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair for Jacobs (13-19, 5-7).

Huntley 3, Crystal Lake Central 0: Senior Zach Liebman threw a 1-hit shutout to improve his record to 8-1 this season and the Red Raiders backed him with single runs in the second, third and fifth innings of a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division home win. Andre Sopena went 3-for-3 with a stolen base and Liebman finished 2-for-3 for Huntley (24-6-1, 10-3).

Bartlett 11, Larkin 0: Greg Partyka hit his eighth and ninth home runs of the season, including a walk-off grand slam in the fifth-inning, and finished with 7 RBI to lift Bartlett to the Upstate Eight Conference home win. Devin Rowland (7-1) shut out the Royals on 5 hits in 5 innings, striking out eight and walking two. Senior outfielder Alex Van Ness went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and Rowland went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Lake Park 12, South Elgin 11: After South Elgin rallied for 5 runs in the top of the seventh to take an 11-9 lead, the Lancers scored 3 runs in their last at-bat to pull out the Upstate Eight Conference victory in Roselle. Drew Buddle and Kyle Kinyon doubled and Brandon Stevens hit a home run for South Elgin (15-12-1, 12-9-1))

Sycamore 12, Hampshire 2: Sycamore led 3-2 through three innings before exploding for 5 runs in the fourth and 4 runs in the fifth to win a nonconference game in Hampshire. Bo Price went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI and Ryan DeChant doubled for the Whip-Purs (17-12).
