St. Edward wins consolation title at Lisle

The St. Edward girls basketball team closed out a successful run at the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic Wednesday night, downing Chicago Christian to win the consolation championship.

The Green Wave (9-6) took a 16-8 lead after one quarter of play and that proved to be the difference as they defeated Chicago Christian for the second time this season.

Maddie Kerr led the Green Wave, turning in a double-digit performance with 10 points while Callie Johnson chipped in 8 points. Kerr was also the only St. Edward player named to the all-tournament team.

Jacobs 63, Chicago Marshall 39: The Golden Eagles (14-5) started off strong taking a 33-19 lead in the first half before eventually cruising to victory over Chicago Marshall in the Montini Christmas Tournament. Maria Tamburrino and Hailey Cnota paced the Golden Eagles' offense recording double-digits with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Sierra Dunner also added double-figures with 11 points.

Plainfield East 46, Larkin 9: The Royals (1-12) found themselves down 13-5 after one quarter of play and could never really get the offense going as they fell to Plainfield East in the final day of the Wolves Winter Classic at Oswego East. Maggie Hofman and Corinne Wimmer led Larkin with 3 points apiece.

Reed (WI) 45, Westminster Christian 42: The Warriors led by 5 at halftime, but were unable to hold off a late Reed run as they were defeated at the Providence-St. Mel Tournament. Beth Kautz paced the Warriors offensively with 11 points. Rachel Doby (8 points, 8 rebounds) and Emily Bickford (8 points, 3 rebounds) also contributed for the Warriors.

Westminster Christian 36, Francis Parker 25: Rachel Doby turned in a double-double for the Warriors (5-8), with 11 points and 12 rebounds, in their second game of the day as they defeated Francis Parker at the Providence-St. Mel Tournament. Sarah Rodgers paced the Warriors on offense recording a team-high 12 points.
