Cary-Grove 49, Elk Grove 41: Nick Richter scored 13 points and Jon Guay added 12 as the Trojans (5-7) knocked off Elk Grove at the Jacobs Holiday Classic. Ben Bradshaw added 8 points for Cary-Grove, which will play Fox Valley Conference Valley Division rival Crystal Lake South in the final round today.
CL South 57, Hope Academy 43: Kevin Rogers struck for 21 points to lead the Gators (8-4) past Chicago Hope at the Jacobs Holiday Classic. Colin Stich and Tyler Dawson had 8 points each for CL South.
Chicago Vocational 62, Hampshire 43: Shane Hernandez had 14 points and Tyler Crater added 10 but the Whip-Purs (6-4) fell behind 35-24 at halftime and couldn't recover in the Chuck Dayton Tournament at DeKalb. “We cut it to eight in the third quarter but we couldn't get past that,” said Hampshire coach Bob Barnett, whose team plays Rochelle at 3:30 p.m. today. “We had a couple turnovers and couldn't get back in it.”
Evanston 72, Burlington Central 52: Sam Klein scored 22 points but Evanston held Ray Hunnicutt to just 11 and the Rockets (5-5) lost at the Chuck Dayton Tournament in DeKalb. “We played a solid second half but in the first half their shooting was too much for us to handle, said BC coach Brett Porto, whose team will play Wilmington at 10:30 a.m. today. “We had some great quarters in the second half.” The Rockets outscored Evanston 25-24 in the second half but couldn't overcome a 48-27 halftime deficit.
