Scouting Addison Trail at Rockford Boylan

No. 15 Addison Trail (5-4) at No. 2 Rockford Boylan (9-0)

Class 6A

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

Blazers fast fact: Seeking first opening-round win since 2004.

Titans fast fact: 9-0 for fourth straight year.

Outlook: Addison Trail coach Paul Parpet Jr. knows it won't be easy to beat the Titans. He also knows, however, that it can't get much tougher than what his team already has seen. Addison Trail played 7A playoff qualifiers Glenbard West and Wheaton North in addition to 8A qualifiers Lyons Twp. and Downers Grove South. The Blazers can vie for an upset if they stick to the formula that worked in most of their games. They must control the ball with running back Anthony Messina, who has 541 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns, and mix things up with the passing of quarterback Trevor Bermingham. The Blazers' difference-maker is Anthony Catanese, who can impact every phase. Defensively, lineman Mike Imperiale and linebacker Kevin Kent will try to contain Boylan quarterback Lamont Toney and running back Tyreis Thomas, who combined for 350 of the team's 500 total yards in last week's 49-7 rout of Rockton Hononegah, the program's 47th straight NIC-10 victory.

Advancement: Winner advances to play the winner between No. 10 Hyde Park (6-3) and No. 7 Richards (7-2).
