Last year: 7-20, 0-12, seventh in West Suburban Gold; lost 57-35 to Glenbrook North in Class 4A Addison Trail regional semifinals.

Top players: Tyler Horvath, sr., G/F; Armin Trgo, sr., G; Manny Martinez, sr., G; Mike Gontarek, sr., F; Ricky Diaz, jr., F; Adam Hallick, sr., G; Steven Agosto, sr., F.

Scouting report: With a smaller lineup, expect the Blazers to look quite different from last season. As opposed to a year ago when Addison Trail tried to slow down games and balance its offense, this group will try to thrive in transition and win from the perimeter. Lyons is especially impressed by the trio of Horvath, a fourth-year varsity member and the leading returning scorer with 6.4 points per game, and the backcourt of Trgo at the point and Martinez, who enjoyed a great off-season. All three players will be counted on to knock down perimeter shots while 6-foot-4 Gontarek and 6-6 Diaz, coming back from last season’s torn ACL, need to take care of the post. “With our guards, we have to shoot well,” Lyons said. “We won’t be completely run and gun, but we’ll be more up-tempo.”
