Scouting Benet at St. Viator

Benet (4-3, 1-3) at St. Viator (4-3, 2-3)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Forest View

Last week: Benet d. Nazareth 48-21; Marist d. St. Viator 35-10

Outlook: Consider this a "better-win" game with the winner likely having enough playoff points to qualify with five wins and the loser facing a daunting challenge next week. Benet has also been an obstacle the last three years for Viator. "We haven't played our best game against them the last few years and we need to do that," said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. "We definitely don't need to go to Marian (Catholic in Week 9) having to win." And Benet doesn't want to be in that position with Joliet Catholic visiting next week. Viator will have QB Cameron Korab (815 yards passing, 7 TDs; 298 rushing, 6 TDs) after missing last week with a concussion against Joliet Catholic. Benet also gets QB Nick Mankowski (673 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT) back from injury to go with RB E.J. Howe (290 yards, 4 TDs last week), WR Connor Nelligan (33 rec., 491 yards, 9 TDs) and D-I line prospects Pat Flavin and Jeff Schmittgens.
