Libertyville survives Patriots in shootout

Marshall Hollingsworth, Jose Ibarra and Miles McNeir scored in shootout kicks, as Libertyville's boys soccer team outlasted host Stevenson 3-2 in a Class 3A regional semifinal in Lincolnshire.

Adam Witucki and McNeir scored in regulation for Libertyville (16-3-2). Griffin Pils and Joey Ruppert had assists for the Wildcats.

Stevenson finished 11-6-3.

St. Viator 3, Mundelein 2: At Glenbrook North, Javier Ramirez scored his 26th and 27th goals of the season in the Mustangs' season-ending loss.

St. Viator scored the winning goal with 27 seconds left.

“It was a heartbreaker, said Mundelein coach Dave Ekstrom, whose team finished 10-8-5.

Matt Iwaniuk made 12 saves in net for Mundelein.

Lake Zurich 3, Palatine 1: At Highland Park, trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Bears got goals from Jake Changelon, John Pothast and Brenden Seeger.

Jose Corral had 2 assists and Seeger had one, as well, for Lake Zurich (12-6-2), which will play Highland Park in the regional final at 2 p.m. Saturday. Bears keeper Tom Doherty played the second half and made 4 saves in relief of Jeff Kreutz.

Round Lake 6, Dundee-Crown 4: At Grant, Jordi Rubio scored 3 goals, two on penalty kicks, and Mauricio Salgado added a pair of goals, as the Panthers rallied from a 4-2 halftime deficit to win a wild one in their Class 3A regional semifinal.

Jorge Vasquez also scored for Round Lake (14-3-5), which will play Cary-Grove in the regional final at 2 p.m. Saturday. Jose Garcia had 2 assists for Round Lake.

Fenton 8, Vernon Hills 0: At Grayslake Central, the Cougars saw their season end.

Vernon Hills finished 5-13-1.

Antioch 6, Woodstock North 0: At Antioch, Zak Semitka scored twice for the host Sequoits in their Class 2A regional semifinal.

Antioch (16-4-2) also got goals from Juan Perez, Jordan Frazer, Jake Jost and Jesus Castillo. Perez, Jost, Taylor Krumpos, Billy Mohr and Dave Mrnak all had assists, and Alex Grimm had the shutout with 2 saves.

Antioch plays in its own regional final at 4 p.m. Friday against the winner of today's game between Johnsburg and Richmond-Burton.
