Scouting the DuPage weekend in girls basketball

WW South (6-1, 2-0) at

Naperville Central (5-4, 2-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Outlook: To the victor, at least a share of the DVC lead heading into the holidays. The Redhawks should be raring to go, four days removed from a 28-point loss at Waubonsie. Emma Ondik and Emma Donahue get help with the return of Jill D'Amico. Expect a deeper WW South team to force a quicker tempo. Allie Zappia is one of many young Tigers to watch.

Montini (6-0) at

St. Edward (6-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Outlook: It's hard to imagine a conference opponent challenging the No. 1 Broncos. If it happens, it could be here. The Green Wave has won four straight with a new up-tempo style. Watch out for juniors Callie Johnson and Maddie Kerr. Montini won all but one of its conference games last year by more than 30 points. Montini guards Whitney Holloway and Kiki Wilson should love the fast pace.
