Cops: Crystal Lake South threat unfounded
Crystal Lake police arrested a juvenile Thursday after an investigation into claims the teen had posted on the Internet threats to shoot students and staff at Crystal Lake South High School.
Police said they learned of the threats, posted in comments on a social networking site, Thursday morning.
The comments, police said, indicated the student planned to bring a firearm to school to harm classmates and school employees.
The student was located off-campus later in the day and arrested without incident. The teen was found not to have access to firearms and there appears to be no substance to the threats, police said.
The McHenry County State's Attorney's office approved a juvenile court charge of disorderly conduct against the student.
