Barrington has 30-20 vision
A sixth-inning rally pushed Barrington to its 30th 20-win season and past visiting Buffalo Grove 7-6 in Saturday's Mid-Suburban League crossover.
John O'Connell had a tying RBI double and Ricky Alfonso followed with an RBI single to give Chris Rogers (3-3) the win in relief. Anthony Brignola also homered for the Broncos (20-14). Ryan Nisbet had a double and 2 RBI for BG (18-12).
Palatine 6, Glenbard West 4: Dan Haze hit a leadoff homer in a 6-run sixth and drove in another run later in the inning with a single. Cody Bobbit went 3-for-4 in the Pirates' 11-hit attack, and Kurt Becker got the win in relief for Palatine (19-14).
Leyden 9, Niles North 4: Dan Savas homered and got the victory for Leyden.
Moline sweeps St. Viator: The Lions (16-18) have lost eight of their last nine after falling 6-5 and 9-7. Cory Kay hit a grand slam in a 5-run seventh in the opener and went 3-for-4 in the second game.
Jake Mastrangeli hit a 3-run homer and Julian Sipiora homered and doubled in Game 2 for Viator.
Community collegeOakton College (42-19) saw its season come to an end with an 11-4 loss to Elgin in the NJCAA Division I Region IV final four tournament in Kankakee.Tim Scanlan (Prospect) went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Oakton but Elgin broke a 4-4 tie with a 2-run sixth."It was a good year," Oakton coach Bill Fratto said after tying the single-season school win record. "It was a good group of kids and I think next year we'll be just as good."
