Property tax bills coming:Lake County property owners will receive tax bills by early May, according to the county treasurer's office. The bills are for 2009 property taxes payable in 2010 in two installments. The first due date is June 3 and the second installment is due Sept. 3. Those who do not receive a bill by May 10 or those looking for payment options can check www.lakecountyil.gov/treasurer or call (847) 377-2323. Taxpayers are urged to pay attention to property tax exemptions, which can lower the bill. A list of exemptions is available at www.lakecountyil.gov/treasurer/propertytaxrelief.Buy some mulch:The Mundelein High School basketball teams will sell mulch through Sunday at the school. The sale will run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday. Several styles of mulch will be available. For an order form, visit d120.org and click on the athletics link.Free golf clinic:The Mundelein Park District and Steeple Chase Golf Club offer a free 30-minute golf clinic at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2. The clinic is part of Play Golf America month. Golfers of all ages and abilities are invited to meet on the first tee at Steeple Chase, 200 N. La Vista Drive, just of Hawley Street near Route 60/83. Demos, Q-AND-A, and useful tips with emphasis on full swing and golf course management are included. The clinic is hosted by Mundelein resident and three-time Division III All-American and PGA#174; Apprentice, Tyler Wollberg. Steeple Chase also offers a program in which children under 18 play free every Sunday through Thursday (after 4 p.m.) with a paying adult. Call (847) 949-8900.Pet food donation:In celebration of Be Kind To Animals Week, May 2 to 8, the Lake County Health Department's Animal Care and Control program hosts a special pet food supply and donation drive to benefit The Pooch Pantry, and Orphans of the Storm. Donations of dry dog and cat food, canned dog and cat food, biscuits, pet treats, cat litter and gift cards from area pet supply stores to benefit the Pooch Pantry, and monetary donations to benefit Orphans of the Storm can be dropped off at the Animal Care and Control facility, 29278 N. Route 83, Mundelein, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Pooch Pantry is a food pantry for dogs and cats. Orphans of the Storm animal shelter takes in, cares for and finds good and loving adoptive homes for abandoned dogs and cats. The Pooch Pantry is open 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Animal Care and Control. Call Cathy Sabin at (847) 566-1960.
