Buffalo Grove, Palatine advance

Buffalo Grove d. Deerfield: The Bison advanced to the semifinals of the Palatine sectional with a 25-22, 25-17 victory over Deerfield at BG. Top Bison efforts came from Mike Jambrone (16-of-20 hitting, 13 kills), Lukas Karch (59-for-59 setting, 34 assists), Nick Baronti (8 kills) and Chris Shanahan (7 kills). The top-seeded Bison (28-5) will meet Palatine at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Palatine d. Prospect: At Highland Park, the Pirates claimed a regional title by stopping the Knights 25-23, 25-18. Nat Pearson led the way with 8 kills and 8 digs, and teammates Justin Ginter (53-for-53 setting, 16 assists) and Adam Hebein (11 digs) had strong supporting performances. Palatine, the No. 5 seed, faces BG at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Palatine sectional semifinals.

Lake Park d. Conant: The Lancers eliminated the Cougars (16-20) with a 25-21, 25-14 decision in the Larkin regional. Conant's top results came from Zach Lindeman (7 digs) and senior setter Sean Engelbreit (47-for-48 setting, 10 assists).
