Warren edges Zion-Benton in OT
Jessica Prince scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Warren’s girls basketball team outlasted host Zion-Benton 43-40 in overtime Tuesday night.
Warren also got 13 points, 7 steals and 7 rebounds from Lexi Leneau, while Alyssa Phillips added 9 points and 8 boards in the North Suburban Lake game. Amanda Barger dished out 10 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Leneau’s 2 free throws forced OT. Warren (5-4, 3-1) outscored the hosts 4-1 in the extra session, as the Blue Devils won their third in a row.
Zion-Benton was led by Sam Rodriguez with 18 points. Octavia Crump had 12.
Grayslake North 54, Johnsburg 51: Jordyn Bowen had 12 points and 6 steals, and the Knights rallied from a 25-23 halftime deficit to win their sixth in a row.
Brooke Sauer grabbed 12 rebounds for Grayslake North (6-3, 2-0) in the Fox Valley Fox game, and Joanna Guhl chipped in 13 points and 6 boards. Allie Ceglarek and Kendall Detweiler had 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Antioch 61, Round Lake 35: Megan Borries hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for the Sequoits, who won their fourth in a row to improve to 5-7 and 4-1 in the North Suburban Prairie Division.
Sarah Huebner added 10 points for Antioch, while Abby Augustin had career highs of 9 points and 9 rebounds. Abbi McIlhany grabbed 7 rebounds.
Stevenson 50, Lake Forest 36: Katie Batman scored 20 points, sinking three 3-pointers, for the visiting Patriots in the North Suburban Lake contest.
Kari Moffat chipped in 10 points, including a 3, for Stevenson (7-3, 2-1), which had lost two in a row.
Freshman Sophia Way had 8 points for the Patriots.
Lake Forest was led by Annie Keller (10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks) and Mary Striedl (4 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals).
Libertyville 51, Mundelein 31: Alex Haley’s 22 points led the Wildcats to the North Suburban Lake win.
Libertyville (9-3, 2-2) also got 11 points from Haley Hoeksel in winning its third in a row.
Amanda Davis had 11 points for Mundelein (4-6, 1-3).
Vernon Hills 51, Barrington 43: Lauren Webb scored 12 points, and Sydney Smith had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks, as the Cougars won their sixth straight.
Abby Springer contributed 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Vernon Hills (10-1).
Both Smith and Springer knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
“I am proud of the way we played, especially when we were in foul trouble in the first half,” Vernon Hills coach Paul Brettner said. “Coach (Babbi) Barreiro’s team came back strong in the second half like her teams always do, and we were able to absorb their run and come back strong.”
Grayslake Central 70, Woodstock 21: The Rams rolled to their eighth win a row, improving to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Fox Valley Fox.
