Naperville Central wins in top of seventh
Kelsey Gonzalez singled in 2 runs, and Meghan Griffin doubled in Gonzalez with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh as No. 9 Naperville Central rallied past No. 17 Wheaton North 4-2 on Tuesday in Wheaton.
Trailing 2-1, the Redhawks (14-4, 5-1 DuPage Valley Conference) got a leadoff single from Katie Walker, and Jill Andreoni beat out a bunt single. One out later Juliet Tassi reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases, and Gonzalez shot a single down the line to tie it.
Walker’s RBI double nudged Naperville Central ahead 1-0 early, but Wheaton North (9-6, 3-2) grabbed the lead with 2 runs in the sixth. Paige Wilson reached on an error and came around to score on a Tiffany Gaimari squeeze bunt, and Kelsey Ullrich scored on a bases-loaded walk.
Naperville North 2, Glenbard North 0:Caitlyn Warren cranked a 2-run homer in the first inning, and Emily Dieckmann did the rest, firing a one-hitter with 3 strikeouts for host Naperville North (7-7, 2-4 DVC). Lilly Fecho (9-2) struck out seven for No. 5 Glenbard North (12-2, 4-2).West Chicago 12, Glenbard East 2:Mary Connolly (10-4) struck out eight and scored 3 runs for No. 12 West Chicago (12-6, 5-0 DVC).
