COD receives IDOT 'Click It or Ticket' grant

College of DuPage has been awarded $1,600 from the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the “Click It or Ticket” Highway Safety Memorial Day grant program.

Funding will be used by the COD Police Department to support increased safety belt enforcement patrols during the Memorial Day 2011 holiday. IDOT reports that Illinois has experienced a decrease in traffic fatalities since the passage of the primary seat belt law in 2003, with nearly 92 percent of Illinois motorists currently using seatbelts. The Click It or Ticket grant program provided resources for law enforcement agencies to encourage even more motorists to buckle up, especially during holiday and nighttime hours that emerge as particular times of risk.
