Boys volleyball/Fox Valley roundup

The South Elgin boys volleyball team improved to 5-3 on the young season with a 2-game sweep of visiting Elgin Thursday.

Jake Mendel had 8 kills and 2 digs, Sean Saxton and 7 kills and 3 digs and Nick Pawlowski notched 12 assists and 3 digs in 1 game to pace the Storm.

Zayaa Oshana (12 kills) and Angel Hernandez (13 assists) led the Maroons.

Bartlett d. Maine South: David Upp’s 7 kills and Russell Martin’s 8 kills, 3 aces and 8 digs led the attack in a nonconference home victory. Andrew Harris had 13 assists and an ace and Mike Shanahan made 7 digs for Bartlett (3-2).

Addison Trail d. Larkin: The Royals (2-8) dropped their nonconference match to the Blazers (4-0) in Elgin, 25-15, 25-14, despited the efforts of Mike Flowers (4 digs, 3 blocks, 2 kills) and Matt Harris (4 digs, 2 blocks, 7 assists).

St. Viator d. Westminster Christian: The Lions polished off the visiting Warriors 25-13, 25-9 in Arlington Heights.
