Mundelein 9, Warren 1: Future Valparaiso teammates Ben Mahar and Ryan Kennedy squared off as mound opponents, with Mahar and his Mustangs teammates winning the North Suburban Lake Division showdown.

Mahar (5-0) pitched a complete game, allowing 6 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks.

Mundelein (14-0, 5-0) was led offensively by Bill McMahon (3-for-4, double, 2 RBI), Nik Gastfield (2-for-4, triple, 2 RBI) and Chris Maranto (double). Luis Carrasco added a single and an RBI.

Warren (8-5, 2-1) got a single and an RBI from Dayton-bound Kevin Colburn. Kennedy allowed 8 runs in 5 inning, but none of the runs was earned.

Libertyville 10, Vernon Hills 5: Joey Eichmann improved to 3-1, and the Wildcats received 2 hits apiece from Robbie Dittmann, A.J. Schurr and Jake Duguid in the North Suburban crossover. Schurr and Duguid had doubles.

Eichmann struck out five, walked two and allowed 7 hits and 2 runs in his 6 innings of work. He also helped himself with an RBI single. Libertyville (7-5), which also got a double from Dar Townsend, scored four times in the third to erase a 2-0 deficit.

Vernon Hills sophomore Tyler Feece hit his first varsity home run in the second. Chris Argianas’ double drove in Anthony Mazza for the Cougars’ second run of the inning.

Chris Marras had 3 hits, including as double, for Vernon Hills. Steven Nelson doubled twice, knocking in a pair.

Wauconda 7, Lake Zurich 2: John Kaimakis and Erik Maki were both 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban crossover.

Maki and Jake Ziolkowski had doubles, while Maki notched the win for Wauconda (9-5).

“Maki pitched well by throwing strikes,” Lake Zurich coach Gary Simon said.

Bears starting pitcher Mike Lutz allowed only 2 earned runs in 5 innings, with Parker Asmann giving up one in 2 frames.

Lake Zurich fell to 4-9.

“Again our pitchers pitched well enough to win,” Simon said.
