Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54

Voters have four candidates seeking three available seats in Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54. Incumbents William Harper and Barbara J. Hengels both have grown children who all attended District 54. The board members’ institutional knowledge is valuable as the district tries to strengthen its fiscal health while serving the growing needs of its students. The newcomers are Thomas J. Manzardo and Mary Kay Prusnick. Manzardo, a financial adviser with four children, brings a business expertise that would be valuable to any school district in these financial times. Prusnick, also the parent of four children, has been involved in the district through various committees since 1999. Both Manzardo and Prusnick have long resumes of service to schools and would be smart, dedicated board members. We prefer the energy and ideas that Prusnick brings. We encourage Manzardo, already a trustee of the Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation, to continue to play an active role in Dist. 54.
