Jaensch, Price, Fielden in District 203
Daily Herald Editorial Board
Naperville Unit District 203 is nearing the end of a massive building program that will result in a redone Naperville Central High School, has in place a superintendent who all sides agree is doing a good job, and is looking at ways to keep expenses down while delivering the type of quality education for which the district is known.
With all that in mind, we think the incumbents running for the three 4-year spots on the school board deserve to be re-elected and earn our endorsement.
Board President Michael Jaensch deserves solid credit as a leader, setting the tone in moving the district forward in a positive manner. Suzyn Price is the longest-serving member of the board at eight years, and that experience is a benefit to the district. Finally, Terry Fielden was the board member most involved in the construction program and kept it on task even with the construction strike last summer that derailed the timelines of similar projects elsewhere.
We encourage challengers Jay Fisher and Bethany Weeks to remain involved. We don’t believe, however, that Weeks should be running for the board at the same time her father also serves on the board.
