Learn about COD's pharmacy tech program

College of DuPage will offer three advising sessions this spring term with information about the Pharmacy Technician certificate program.

Sessions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, Thursday, March 10, and Wednesday, April 13.

The Feb. 22 and April 13 sessions will be held in the Health and Science Center, Room 1301, while the March 10 session will take place at COD's Carol Stream Community Education Center, Room 106.

The one-semester Pharmacy Technician certificate program is offered through a partnership between COD and MRxI Corporation in Downers Grove, an instructional organization created by a team of pharmacists dedicated to the advancement of both pharmaceutical and allied health positions.

Topics covered include retail and institutional pharmacy practices, learning how drugs work, drug class differentiation, basic physiology, drug interactions, and pharmacy law and ethics.

In addition, the 105-hour program includes 30 hours of pharmacy calculations instruction.

The program will be offered this summer at three COD locations: on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning May 2 at the Carol Stream Center and on Saturdays, beginning May 7 at both the Naperville Regional Center and on campus in Glen Ellyn.
