Chocolate Margarita

2 ounces blanco tequila

1 ounce chocolate liqueur

1 ounce cream or half-and-half

Splash of fresh orange juice

Splash of fresh lime juice

Dash chocolate bitters

1 cup ice

Sugar and cocoa for rimming

Place all liquid ingredients in a blender and mix well. Add ice and blend until smooth. Pour into a margarita glass that has been rimmed with a mix of sugar and cocoa.

Serves one.

Bar notes: You will note that a little citrus is added in the recipe. This helps bind the sweetness of the chocolate to the tequila and adds depth to the drink’s flavor, making it more interesting than a tequila-flavored chocolate smoothie. Want more chocolate? Add chocolate syrup to the blender. Ensure that in this drink, your ice is blended very well until the drink is very smooth. Chunky ice may be OK with fruits, but is not so appetizing when chocolate is involved.
