Larkin 3, Wheeling 2: Jaci Bridgers, Emily Stevens and Rosa Camarena scored goals for Larkin in this nonconference win. Camarena’s goal won it with 40 seconds left to play. Stephanie Leon had an assist and Diana Hernandez made 5 saves in goal for the Royals (2-13-1). “As a team we had good energy and we had possession time,” said Larkin coach Ken Hall. “It was one of our better games of the season.”
Jacobs 4, McHenry 3: Catie Sherman’s PK goal in the 86th minute lifted Jacobs to a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Sherman, Molly Leopold and Payton Berg scored for the Golden Eagles (10-7-3, 1-2) in regulation and Alyssa Koeppler had 10 saves in the net.
Westminster Christian 1, Kirkland Hiawatha 1: Liz Maschewski scored Westminster’s goal in this nonconference tie. Christina Cusumano had 4 saves in goal for the Warriors (3-8-3).
Elgin Academy splits: The Hilltoppers lost to Lake Forest Academy 3-0 before coming back to beat North Chicago 8-0 at the LFA Invite. Ashley Barnes scored 5 goals for EA in the win, with Lauren Farbota scoring twice and Bea Oglesby once. Alysson Wittmeyer didn’t have to make a save against North Chicago, and the Elgin Academy (8-7-2) goaltender had 4 saves against LFA.
At Rosary: Harvest Christian had a rough day at the Rosary tournament, falling to West Aurora 5-0, Hinckley-Big Rock 5-1, Rosary 2-0 and IMSA 4-0. Callie Arosen scored the Lions’ lone goal for the day off an assist from Morgan Lockwood. Tori Nelson had 36 saves on the day for Harvest Christian (5-10-1).
