Senior Maddie Kerr was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and sophomore Jasmine Deleon was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI as St. Edward’s softball team defeated Guerin Prep 6-4 Wednesday, the Green Wave’s first win of the season.
Sophomore Julie Larson picked up the complete game win for the Wave (1-3, 1-1 Suburban Christian), allowing 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks.
Ryan Scully and Kristi Kroll also drove in runs for St. Edward.
“It feels good to win a game,” said St. Edward coach Jaci Corn. “Julie did a real nice job today and she and Morgin Coughlin have done well for us in our first four games. We minimized the defensive mistakes this game and we continue to improve our hitting. They did well today and deserved to win.”
Rolling Meadows 10, Huntley 7: Angela Tribuzio was 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI in Huntley’s nonconference loss. Haley Spannraft suffered the pitching loss for the Red Raiders (1-5).
CL South 17, Rockford Jefferson 3: Sam Golf pitched a 4-hitter with 8 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Gators (6-1) to a nonconference win. Kim Woods (3-for-4, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), Sam McLean (3-for-5, 3 RBI) and Kim Mcelmen (2-for-3, RBI) led the Crystal Lake South offense.
Sycamore 15, Hampshire 5: Haley Widmayer suffered the loss for the Whip-Purs (6-5) in this nonconference game.
Neuqua Valley 12, Larkin 1: Lexi Smithberg, Alex Buhrow and Beth Barry had the only hits for Larkin and Maggie Hoffman had an RBI in the Royals’ Upstate Eight loss. Kiernan Schock was the losing pitcher for Larkin (2-12, 0-3).
Waubonsie Valley 13, Streamwood 8: Dani Fisher was 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI for Streamwood in this Upstate Eight loss. Kaylee Jambor also had 3 hits for the Sabres (3-5, 0-3) and Kellee Conquest was the losing pitcher.
