Lakes gets back to its winning ways
Lakes' boys basketball team headed into Friday night's North Suburban Prairie Division finale against visiting Vernon Hills having not lost three games in a row all season.
The Eagles still haven't.
Jacob Brown scored a career-high 15 points, and Direll Clark added 14, as Lakes won 66-40 to snap a two-game losing streak.
Lakes (16-9, 9-3) led 21-6 after the first quarter and never looked back. Justin Bergeron also scored in double figures, finishing with 10 points, and 10 Eagles scored.
Vernon Hills (6-6 NSC Prairie) was led by Darren Hoveydai with 14 points.
CL Central 79, Grayslake North 58: Chase Cane scored a game-high 23 points, and the Tigers won their 21st consecutive home game, while eliminating the Knights from the Fox Valley Fox title race.
Grayslake North (16-8, 8-3) was led by Ben Guhl's career-high 16 points. Zack Krupp and Danny Mateling each had 10 points, while A.J. Fish finished with 9.
Warren 81, Libertyville 42: Darius Paul knocked down three of his four 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 23 points, as the visiting Blue Devils capped an 11-1 run through the North Suburban Lake Division.
Mitch Munda and JoVaugn Gaines added 11 points apiece for Warren (21-2), which ran its winning streak to 12 games. The Blue Devils also got 8 points each from Nathan Boothe and Jon Geske.
Libertyville (14-11, 4-8), which dropped its fourth straight, was led by Anthony Mack's 9 points. Ellis Matthews and Adam Witucki each had 8.
Antioch 48, Wauconda 35: Karl Nettgen scored 13 points, William Waschow added 9, and the host Sequoits wrapped up North Suburban Prairie action with their first division win.
Antioch (4-21, 1-11) got 3-pointers from Nettgen, Waschow, Joe Gregory and Anthony Formella.
Wauconda (10-15, 3-9) was paced by Kyle Ryan's 14 points.
